Self control fruits of the spirit. Fat GB seem to lack it
by JohnR1975 infruits of the spirit would surely be required to be gb members?
yet some of them seem to lack self control when it comes to eating.
br herd, mark sanderson and br jackson in these are all very obese.. if they travel to poor places wearing their rolex watches and gold pinky rings the brothers there will surely wonder why they are so fat.. there are many scriptures talking about not being greedy and not gluttonous for food.. if they were really chosen by god as his channel on earth then why can’t they show the fruits of the spirit and show self control when it comes to being gluttonous?.

Question for JW's: Is Jesus the Mediator of Your Prayers ?
by Sea Breeze inpraying to god “through the son jesus” has nothing to do with christ as mediator.. do jw's even know what a mediator does?.
i am in the insurance restoration construction business and have been in mediation many times when a policy holder sues an insurance company for not paying everything they believe is due them under the terms of their policy for property damage.. i am brought in as a technical expert.. in mediation, the plaintiff (policy holder) and the defendant (insurance company) are placed in separate rooms, they do not talk to each other.
they are separated because the dispute has alienated the one from the other.

My advice is to learn how to. Otherwise: "ye have not because ye ask not" - James: 4: 2
"He makes the sun rise on both the evil and the good and sends rain on both the righteous and the unrighteous." Matt 5:45

JW leadership plays the victim by claiming persecution by authorities. The sad truth is that the 'persecution' is deserved and not just random acts of evil by the 'wild beast'.

VE Day (victory in Europe) and the Generation.
by Slidin Fast ini am watching the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of ve day.
80 years since the defeat of nazi germany in 1945. i find the interviews of the stalwart men and women who played their part very moving.
these veterans speak with pride and sadness about their experiences, those they lost, those they fought alongside.

I seem to remember the song “Waltzing Mathilda” from when I was a child - and that was way before 1980. Just sayin’.
You might be thinking of the orginal poem written by Banjo Paterson from 1895, Its kind of the unofficial national anthem of Australia. The song is based on that poem.
Interesting that you spelled it as Mathilda, with an h. Ive heard different things about what a Mathilda, or Matilda represents in the poem. Either a bundle of belongings that an itinerant worker would carry, or the other version is that Mathilda with an h is a slang German word for a type of coat.

The problem off course is that they somehow snag younger people, a different message, a different group but this generation does not remember the last, does not know or remember the promises.
The memories of the older generations are very inconvenient for the GB, so they try their best to obfuscate them.

There is an Australian song called 'The band played Waltzing Matilda' , written in 1980 about the world war 1 generation.
One of the lines is poignant and I think of it every year the commemorations roll around, in particular because I grew up as a JW. For reference, the last known veteran of WW1 died in 2012.
'And the band played Waltzing Matilda
As the old men still answer the call
But as year follow year, more old men disappear
Someday no-one will march here at all.'

Youths who gave up amazing lives
by JohnR1975 inwhen i was growing up i remember many young people interviewed on the platform at assemblies.
the ones who really stood out are the talented ones who gave up amazing lives to pioneer.. i remember specifically when i was a boy in the 70s and 80s some who were very good at sport or something.
their teachers begged them to get professional training use their talents to the full.

Obviously, not every talented JW kid who turned down higher education might have change the world with amazing scientific breakthroughs or sporting achievements. Now that I am older, the thought of any kid that wastes their potential is so depressing.
I'm fortunate enough to own a business but I wish I had a different attitude when I was younger and didnt listen to those around me. I used to envy 'wordly' kids who were able to pursue their dreams with the full support of their parents.

@joey: I am being pedantic, this group never became astronauts, they didn’t reach space. They flew really high, like that guy that jumped out of a balloon at that height.
Good point.

Probability of Earth and life being how it is
by ballistic inthere are some things we don't know about existence and whether the earth is a simulation or even a creation.
but we can do some statistical analysis on it.. the probability of a planet like earth existing in the goldilocks zone and having a moon that perfectly eclipses the sun is extremely low, but it's not impossible.
the habitable zone (or goldilocks zone) around a star is the region where a planet could potentially support liquid water on its surface.

Same as when we are born - the chances of us being "us" exactly is extremely low, and yet billions of people walk the earth.
Yes, each of us are unique and special - just like everyone else.
Also, I didnt think this topic would attract one of SeaBreeze's charts , but it has come close :).
